You Know what i mean, Honey

Documentary (80 min) | German/English OV | 5.1 Surround Sound | 2027

At the Schwules Museum Berlin, artist Dieter Rita Scholl, mid-70s, is archiving their own life's work — a final reckoning with art, struggle, and desire. Every photograph, every object raises the same question: what remains of a person when body and time turn against them? Far away, on the edge of the sea on a Canary Island, Dieter finds among close friends a place of touch and stillness — and the certainty that a life can be lived in full color against all odds. Between archive and Atlantic, a portrait emerges of a yearning, luminous person who never let themselves be hidden, who moved through decades of exclusion and rejection queer and visible — and found their art precisely there. A film about aging as the last, most uncompromising art form — until Dieter decides for themselves how their own story should end, delivering the most radical proof that self-determination is not a question of age.
