After the sudden death of her father, the filmmaker is on a search for her heritage and the story of her father's escape. She is joined by her two friends – the cinematographer and the musician of the film – as they travel through Bulgaria. They examine places, texts, letters, documents and archival footage of her family from the past and present in Bulgaria and Germany. The daughter tries to undo the separations that had shaped her father’s and her own life. She starts writing letters to him telling him about her discoveries, about feelings she could never share with him when he was alive. Together with her friends she goes on a transformative, fable-like documentary journey and recovers a sense of togetherness, creating new memories that merge within this film into a mosaic of footages of their own present futures and her father’s life.
